Family Fun, Life, Misc., Weekends

The rest of the weekend

After Halloween on Friday, we’ve had a fun and very enjoyable weekend!

My parents arrived around 4 p.m. on Friday and stayed until ~11:15 a.m. today (Sunday), so we had a nice chunk of time with them.

They came with us to Ethan’s big Sectional Final soccer game at 1 p.m yesterday. Unfortunately, the weather was CRUMMY- fairly steady rain throughout much of it, and quite chilly (like upper 40s/low 50s). Think hat, gloves, blankets, jackets, umbrellas, towels to sit on… Not awesome.

Also unfortunately, Ethan’s team lost, 2-1, bringing their season to a close. (A win would have meant a trip to State next week! Boooo.)

The seniors were very emotional and we saw lots of tears as the boys exited the field. It was made worse by the fact that Ethan’s team really dominated most of the game, actually- a huge majority of the game was spent down near the opposing team’s goal, but our team couldn’t seem to actually get the ball in the net!! 😫😫

The other team was the #1 seed and Ethan’s was the #2 seed, but still, it was a very winnable game. Argh.

After the game, Ethan headed out on the bus with the team, and my parents, Ivan and I went out for a late lunch/early dinner at the Old Fashioned on the Capitol Square.

Didn’t realize the dude next to us looked RIGHT at me as I snapped a pic… 😆

They have “world famous” cheese curds, which ARE exceptionally delicious.

We had a nice Capitol view table and we enjoyed just sitting and eating and lingering. It was great! They have an awesome “old fashioned music” playlist, too. 🙂

The rest of the night was mostly spent watching the INSANE World Series game!! OMG!!! Crazy crazy. That was some amazing baseball, I’ve gotta say, on both sides. Utter heartbreak for the Jays and I was wigging out and watching between half-covered eyes, even though I technically didn’t have skin in the game here! 😩

This morning my mom and I ran to TJMaxx. I am looking for some sort of shawl/ sweater to wear over my dress, but didn’t find anything.

I did however run across some MUCH cheaper but still perfectly nice knock off Ugg mini-booties which are amazingly comfortable… inspired by SHU and Annabel’s recent purchase (of the real ones!) I grabbed them! Haha. I have the Ugg Tasman’s so I really do not “need” these in real Uggs, but they are soooo cozy and will be perfect for bumming around… with leggings or sweats…. or at our Mexican place on a freezing Friday night…

They’re just blank on the heel and don’t say “Ugg”…. 🤷‍♀️

When we got home, my dad said, “Well, did you find what you needed??”

And I said, “Nope! But I found something I didn’t need!” 🤣🤣Of course.

Time to get ready for the soccer banquet! Gotta run!

Daily Gratitude:

I am grateful for the World Series! What fun to watch.

  1. Poor Ethan it is a tough way to end the season. My son’s team ended the season similarly. They dominated a 0-0 game in terrible weather and then lost in penalties. My son is a senior and he was definitely feeling it.

  2. Your Saturday weather was our Friday weather. It’s hard to be out when it’s so damp and cold! That is such a heartbreaking loss, too. 😦

Your knock-off Uggs look great! I just did some online shopping this weekend at Athleta and used the gift card from you and SHU + one from coworkers to get more joggers and some cozy long sleeve shirts that will be good weekends. I have a lot of LS race shirts but very few cute and cozy LS shirts. I got an early Black Friday sale so got a good deal on everything! I definitely did not ‘need’ what I purchased but it is nice to update my leisurewear!

    1. Ooh I’m glad you got to use the gift card!! You’ll have to text me if the long sleeve shirts work out. I was going through my clothes last weekend and realized I also don’t really have many simple long-sleeve shirts that I love either and had thought maybe I’d put that on my Christmas list!

  3. UGG! that reminds me of school time. I thought they went out of fashion but two UGG (you and SHU posts) in one day, maybe they are fashionable again?!

I bet they are comfy. I hate cold feet, so if I live in the US, I probably need one too

    1. Oh yes UGGs are big again! Back in the day the taller Ugg boots were the main thing, probably what you’re thinking of. But nowadays it’s more these different Ugg varieties, like the Ugg Tasman slipper (worn outside as a shoe, too!) and the Ultra Mini booties, etc. that everyone’s wearing.

  4. Coach (my husband) was also rooting for the Jay’s because the dodgers won it last year. I didn’t watch the game, but it sounds exciting. Bummer about the soccer team. That’s so hard. Especially when it was winnable. My senior in HS daughter plays in semifinals for sectionals tomorrow night for volleyball. I won’t be there, and my guess is this will be the end of the road for them. But one never knows. Those boots do look really comfy.

  5. That was the most exciting WS game ever! My team is the Guardians so I didn’t have a dog in that fight but was kind of rooting for Toronto. That close play at the plate followed by the center fielder’s catch was just UNREAL.

  6. Oh, what a bummer about the soccer game. That’s especially hard for the seniors. Also, bummer for you guys to sit through an uncomfortable game (weather-wise) just to see them lose and be disappointed. Oh well- those cheese curds probably made up for it!

I watched that world series game until it for too late for me and I went to bed. I also wasn’t rooting for either team really, and I’m mad I missed the end! It sounds like an exciting ending.

  7. Ah bummer that Ethan’s team lost… I hate when the better team just can’t get the goals in. Dang! I understand the disappointment.

    The cheese curds look amazing!
And I also watched the insane last World Series game… (actually, the whole series was a nail-biter!).

I think SHU is setting a trend LOL
