Life, Misc., Weekends

Happy weekend!

I have an extra skip in my step this weekend because the weather forecast is SO GOOD!!!!!

As often has been happening to me on the weekends lately, I feel a little paralyzed, though. I technically have a lot of open space this weekend! But I have no real plans, yet, and can’t quite decide what to do.

Ethan is away at an overnight tennis tournament (left yesterday, returns later today). Asher is working a double shift and won’t be home until after 4 pm.

We have been pretty busy the last 2 weekends (houseguests one week, then my mom here + swim meet all day last weekend), though, so I feel like my “to do list” has snowballed a bit.

  • Our house needs a good cleaning!!!
  • We have yard work (it’s that time of year around here…).
  • We need to get our patio furniture out of the shed.
  • We should really put some grass seed down in some spots.
  • I NEED to sit down and do some more Copenhagen planning/research- this may be a more “wing it” trip, which I’m okay with!, but I have at least certain things to figure out!
  • I need to drain and refill the hot tub sometime this month (always a big production).
  • I should probably swap out my sweaters/boots in my closet for my more summery clothes!
  • I have several errands.
  • I have some returns to package.
  • Will I ever clean out my storage room??
  • We have some finance tracking stuff to update.
  • We need to figure out what we’re doing with Charlie while we’re gone in June! My SIL’s new work schedule made it not-so-great for dog-sitting while we were in London, so I think we’re going to look at a plan B- possibly just boarding him. Need to figure this out ASAP!
  • I want to work out….
  • I want to read my Harry Potter book…
  • I want to hang out with the boys!! I’d like to maybe make a bonfire tonight!!
  • Groceries.

Bleh. Why is that list so freaking long?! 😫

Also, it’s Mother’s Day tomorrow!! Since my mom was just here for a week, not sure we’ll get together… though I would like to see her on Mother’s Day…. but also… I don’t know, see above.

Also, see way way above- the weather! It looks like a gorgeous weekend to, I don’t know, drive off and take a long hike somewhere or something. Hmmm.

I guess I’ll report back and hopefully will at least do something fun besides just errands and chores. lol.

Speaking of Ethan’s tennis- I am getting a little annoyed! He has been having to miss SO MUCH SCHOOL! This overnight was the 2nd time they missed a whole Friday of school for tennis, and he has had many other “early releases”- sometimes as early as like noon or 1 pm. Hmph. I don’t remember this from last year, but he was JV last year and I think didn’t go to all the invites/etc. I already had him reach out to his counselor and request that next year he get his study hall (or a very light class) in 8th period instead of MATH which he has this year (and keeps missing!!).

Another random update- my switch back to the EmPowered Fitness strength workouts has been just the fresh “change up” I needed, I think! I have been feeling excited and refreshed to be back in the gym. I loved Sohee’s workouts, too, but these are just a little different and I’m feeling them right now. It’s a good reminder that if something is starting to feel stagnant, MAKE A CHANGE!

(*My back seems to be mostly fine!! I had one leg day that it hurt a bit after (I believe it was the “good morning” exercise I did, which I actually suspected might be problematic, anyway; I cut the sets short and will leave that one out going forward! Also still completely avoiding Romanian deadlifts and heavy squats.). I’m taking Meloxicam every day and knock on wood, but it seems like a miracle drug for me, overall!!!!! Went from daily, almost approaching debilitating-level pain to basically….none.)

Alright, off to go do….something from my list above!! 😉

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY weekend to all the amazing moms reading this!!!! Especially to my mom, who is the absolute ‘creme de la creme’ of moms, and my sister, who is really “in the thick of it” right now with 3 young, very busy kids and is just doing so amazing with juggling it all! 💗💗💗 Love you both so much!!

  1. I think you should go for a hike or sit in the sun & read a book! You have to enjoy this weather. For Copenhagen be sure to visit the Freetown Christiana area – it’s so cool and very hippie. We were there a number of years ago and our BNB was very close. We were 2 running couples (actually heading to Reykjavik to do the marathon) and did all our easy runs through that area – one of my fave memories.

  2. Happy Mother’s Day to you!

I am feeling similarly paralyzed by all the options and to-do list items. What I really want to do is go outside and enjoy the weather. Maybe I will do that FIRST, then tackle some of the indoor tasks?

  3. Happy Mother’s Day! The forecast here is great as well! It makes such a difference in my mood. I did my first run of the season in shorts and a t-shirt!!

A long list is overwhelming and can give you analysis paralysis!! Hopefully you can do a mix of productive and enjoyable things!

That is too bad about tennis requiring Ethan to miss school!! Math would be a tough subject to miss. Math is so much harder than we were kids. Like Paul is learning about fractions in 1st grade. I am confident I did not work with fractions in first grade!!

  4. I have a list of things I would like/should do. Instead, I READ A BOOK and it’s 2:30 pm and I’m still in my robe. I mean, I’ve done lots of things – gave John a haircut, did dishes, made lunch, prepped some food for tomorrow, painted my nails, but I just have zero desire to do some of the more irksome things on my to-do list like go to three stores to get various groceries and home supplies we need. I just have ZERO desire. Also, it has been pouring rain and I let John and Indy go watch Belle compete at her track event so I didn’t have to get wet and cold like the delicate little orchid I am 🙂 It’s so cold – miserable for track – hence being home in my robe 🙂

We have a fundraising dinner tonight so I will need to get dressed eventually, but I’ll admit I’m a bit grouchy about it!

  5. Happy Mother’s Day! I’m SO envious of your weather. It’s already Sunday while I’m writing this, but I vote for you to do some chores/errands in the morning, and then go for a hike and enjoy yourself in the afternoon.

I would be annoyed about Ethan missing so much school as well- and especially math, I feel like it’s important to NOT miss and really keep up with it. Your solution for next year (if it works out) sounds good.

Glad your back is feeling so great!!! Hmm. I wonder about- possibly- meloxicam for my hamstring? I’ll ask my chiro about it. Sometimes these things just need a little help.

Hope you’re having a great day!
