An unexpected “love” note

Just popping in to say a quick Happy Mother’s Day to any moms reading!! I hope you all have a wonderful day.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I want to share something that just made my day the other day. One of those little moments that warm your heart and make you feel that all of the craziness of parenthood is SO worth the journey.

Friday morning, the boys’ school hosted their annual Muffins with Mom event on the playground before school. Basically, several volunteer dads stand out there and dole out muffins for all the moms and kids. Just a nice little gesture of appreciation for the moms! (Later this month will be a Donuts with Dad day.)

Anyway, I attended the little playground event, we got our muffins, and then as I walked over to chat with Ethan’s friend’s mom, the boys took off to play with their friends for a bit before the bell rang. Lost in conversation, I didn’t really even notice that the bell rang and the kids had lined up to head inside. After a few minutes, I realized neither of them had even stopped back over to say goodbye to me!! How rude!! sniff, sniff. hahaha.

My feelings weren’t too hurt…I know how it is. I remember being that age. 🙂

But when I got home and sat down at my computer, I noticed I had an email right away from Asher (sent from school on his school ipad at 8:05). It said:

Subject Line: Sorry

Hi Mom,

Sorry I forgot to say goodbye to you. My class was going inside and I had to go. Love you. See you soon.

Asher

❤❤❤❤ Awwwww!! I was so touched that he thought to send this. What a sweet boy. It really made my day- more than probably any regular gift ever could. 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day!! ESPECIALLY to my own most amazing, wonderful, incredible mom, who I am so immensely blessed to have in my life! Love you, Mom!!

Pics: A couple moments of solitude so far this weekend.

Photo 1= an empty house yesterday for a bit, taking a break from cleaning to enjoy a cup of tea and update my journal in the sunroom.

Photo 2= solo hot tub soak this morning with my book while everyone was still sleeping!!! Hard to really see in picture, but the tree on the left is currently flowering with the most beautiful white blooms. Perfect morning.

Daily Gratitude:

I am grateful that the boys can email me from school if needed now!! This isn’t the first time they have sent me a quick note about something, and it’s kind of cool to be able to be connected just briefly while they’re gone, now and then. Technology… 🙂

  1. What a sweet note. I just realized that your recent posts haven’t been coming through to feedly for a week so I had to hop over and check in on all of your posts.
Today is a hard one for me. My mom is now in England for the next three weeks (thanks to covid … darn 5 day mandatory quarantine upon arrived, even when vaccinated) handling with the funeral arrangements for my aunt. So it was strange not to spend mothers day with her BUT thankfully I was able to drive her to the airport yesterday and I was able to speak to her this evening before she went to bed.
Hope you had a lovely mother’s day! ❤

    1. I’m so sorry about your aunt!! And that covid is making a hard time even harder for your family. I’m glad you got to see her and talk at least, though!!

And yes- my blog is “broken” again in Feedly and I don’t have an answer really as to how to fix it!!! I cannot even explain how frustrated it makes me… UGH. I have tried hiring help and spent a bunch of money on it, and it even seemed to stump the web designer… So, I don’t really know what to do now. If interested, you could always subscribe by email with the button on my site. I know for certain the email subscription for new posts works perfectly!! Thanks for reading, despite the technical difficulties….I know Feedly is convenient for many, so I really want to make it work. The issue is driving me just crazy!

      1. You’re too kind Kae. It has been a very trying few weeks. I am just glad she is there safely. I am also so glad that she got vaccinated before heading overseas so that I don’t have to worry as much upon her return.

I will definitely sign up for the email subscription because like others have mentioned, I know you post regularly so I find it strange when your posts dont show up.

Did you have a good mother’s day? How is your summer trip planning going??

  2. Super annoying that your posts don’t come into Feedly again. I just know to check in on your blog on a regular basis now that I don’t see them since I know you are a frequent poster!

That note from Asher is very sweet! What a great kid!

I had a really nice Mother’s Day. I was able to nap on Sat and Sun which is so key for me on the weekends right now. Phil was able to hang with Will and put him down for his nap so I laid down when Pablo napped. He also got me wine, ice cream and tulips. Perfect!
