Not ready yet

Well, it’s been a full week since I deleted all my social media accounts from my phone.

In full disclosure, I reinstalled a couple times to check on a couple of swim team related posts (and a did a quick breeze through other stuff), but overall, it has remained OFF.

I just did a little internal check-in with myself, and nope. I’m not ready to re-install.

There has been enough high temperature chatter in other places that even without social media, my brain is still being flooded with a lot of extreme negativity that is a) not actually productive and b) simply not healthy for me.

So, my social media fast continues!

In this upcoming reflection season of the year, I’m seeking peace. And right now, consuming a ton of “rage-full”, hate-filled content does absolutely nothing, besides slowly extinguish the flames of positivity that I want to keep burning strong inside me. Without them, how can I possibly spread peace and love to others?

Daily Gratitude:

I am grateful for a fun night down at our bar last night. My parents were in town, we got pizza, and it’s officially Christmas in my basement! LOL! My mom always helps me decorate our basement rec room (it’s where we hold our family Christmas, so it gets way more decorated than I’d probably decorate my basement otherwise). We always tend to do it early to get it out of the way. Actually thinking I might just go ahead and decorate the rest of my house next weekend too!

  1. I agree Kae- there’s enough hate being put out into the world right now. We have to put out as much kindness and love as possible. I LOVE that Grinch meme! Let’s all try to be Cindy Lou Whos.

  2. At times like this I am especially glad to be off social media. I don’t need it for anything in our lives luckily so I can stay off for the long haul. Phil is on social media but being the moderator he is, he is barely on it. So if we needed it for an activity, he could be on it especially since he is the point person for most of the boys’ sports.

We watched The Grinch the last 2 weekend, err Taco did. So we are back on the grinch bandwagon. I plan to put our Christmas decorations up in mid-November. I love the glow of the tree!!

  3. My social media is mostly friends sharing Wordle scores, so it’s been pretty OK stress wise. Some people really pissed of course, but not a lot of vitriol, thankfully. I love your basement, I wish we had one!

  4. I love that you have decorated already! Deck the halls! I can see why you still want to stay off the socials. I did that during the pandemic and kind of never went back; to be honest though, I was not really on them anyway. But the extra hate I would see when I would just pop on to see what the latest COVID rules were was enough to keep me away.

  5. Hello Grateful Kate! I’m popping over from Elisabeth’s blog! I’ve had a love/hate relationship with social media over the years. I’ve quit and gone back several times. Why am I so wishy washy about it? I guess that’s what they want – to suck me in! 🤣

  6. Smart idea to stay off social media. Luckily, I have curated my Instagram algorithm so it’s MOSTLY dog/cat Reels but the political posts sneak in. I was talking to a friend today who is really struggling but she’s on FB ALL THE TIME. She was like, “But we need to stay angry!” Which yes, but is that really serving us right now? Being angry for the sake of being angry isn’t helping anyone.
