Sunday scenes + dog humor

Happy Daylight Savings Day to all who celebrate. 😉 I definitely LOVE the “fall back” way more than the “spring ahead”. Yay for more sleep!

And this weekend, I needed that extra hour.

As you know, my Thursday-Friday were very short in the sleep department.

And today, I’m writing from an Aquatic Center lobby while Asher warms up for a swim meet. I have not been at a meet in ages!!! This summer was wonky with so much family in town, so he didn’t do as many meets as usual. This fall season he’s only done one so far, when I was up north with Ethan. Then he missed the last two, one due to his D.C. trip and one due to a little “signup snaffu”. Anyway, I’m excited to be back at the pool!

The only negative here is that his Arrival time was 7:40 a.m. And this meet is a 1 hour 40 minute drive from home. Doing the math, we had to leave home by 6:00. YAWN. So, thank goodness for that extra hour.

The drive down was very pleasant though! SUPER light traffic, beautiful farm scenery, and a gorgeous sunrise.

Here are a bunch of shots Asher took on the way:

And now, here’s my little superstar, all ready and raring to go!!!!!

😂😂😂😂 Looks like he’s ready to crush it!!! LOL. 😴😜

Dog Humor

And on a completely unrelated note, enjoy a few dog humor memes that made me smile:

HA. Thank goodness. 😉
haha. social media humor 🙂

Enjoy your Sunday!

P.S. I am really enjoying writing these (shorter) daily posts!! I think sometimes I feel like I have to have something truly “significant” to say in order to post (not sure why, since I do not think really any of my posts are particularly “significant”)….

Knowing I “have to” post daily right now and that it’s ok to just sort of quickly put out whatever has been fun and freeing.

Daily Gratitude:

I am grateful for seeing the sunrise. Made me think momentary deep thoughts as I drove of how I am grateful for our planet and that the sun faithfully rises for us, every day, day in, day out, without fail. ❤️

  1. Hahahahaha… love the dog humor. I seriously laughed at all three of them.

I LOVE turning the clocks back!!! It sounds like it turned out especially well for you. I hope the swim meet went well.

Your daily gratitude reminds me of the day in 2016 when Trump won the election- Obama said “The sun will still rise tomorrow.” I always think about that- yes, the sun will always rise, no matter what.

  2. We spent our extra hour sleeping and it was wonderful.

Our dog definitely “likes” a lot of posts on each walk – and leaves plenty of her own. I’m sure they get a lot of likes in return.

  3. I desperately enjoyed the extra hour sleep, but will not enjoy it getting dark at 4pm. Also, just wait until Charlie is on a regular schedule – the time changes will make it seem like you have a toddler all over again!

    1. I know… the dark evening thing can be frustrating. I don’t mind a little bit earlier evenings in the winter where I can turn on fireplace and cozy in, but yeah, 4-4:30 pm is VERY early. Makes it hard to get out to walk or do anything, really.

  4. That sunrise is lovely! I think shorter posts are great when so many of us are trying to get out there and read every day. I’m trying to keep mine short, too, though I don’t always succeed there. I hope the swim meet went well!

    1. Yes, it’s hard to keep up with so many! But they are all so fun to read, so it’s a good problem to have. Writing shorter posts right now just makes sense for me too since they are quicker to write! And I have had a lot on my plate. 🙂

  5. I feel like I am in the minority in hating changing clocks. Pre-kids I liked falling back. Now it’s just an extra hour of parenting – either because you adjust your kids’ bedtime ahead of the time change or you get an extra hour or parenting the day you move the clocks back. So post kids I prefer sprinting ahead. But I could do without the whole thing and just stay on DST!

  6. really lovely pics of the morning. 1;40 drive is very far!

fortunately we don’t have changing hours here in tropical country. I used to love fall back more than spring too. less stress to wake up everyone earlier.

  7. Early mornings are so hard (because it’s hard to get up) but so rewarding (look at those sunrise pictures!).

I am really glad you’re enjoying the shorter posts (and honestly, it’s pleasant to know I can keep up with your blog right now LOL)… 🙂

    1. It really does help, doesn’t it?! I am noticing this too as I read others. (That said, I am totally pro- people writing whatever length posts they want!) But it has been working well for me to keep it shorter for the moment, just since I don’t have TONS of extra time to write/ read blogs right now.

  8. There IS something freeing about “having” to post daily, isn’t there? In addition to having so! many! posts! to read every day, I really enjoy seeing how the structure of the month inspires people’s writing.

The sunrises sure are beautiful, but that seems much too early to be up and being sporty! (Or sports-cheering-on-y!)
