While I work, I have been listening to a “Classic Christmas” station on Pandora. It plays mostly traditional Christmas songs (Joy to the World, Silent Night, etc.) and many tend to be older versions with that great old time sound (like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, etc.).
There’s one song that has been popping up a lot lately that I was actually unfamiliar with. I was loving the lyrics though, so I had to look it up. Turns out, the song is sung by Bing Crosby and it is from the movie White Christmas. I am a little embarrassed to admit that I have never seen that movie!! (I am pretty sure most people have?) I have seen a lot of Christmas movies, but for some reason, I’ve never seen that one (or heard this song!).

Here are part of the lyrics:
“When I’m worried,
And I can’t sleep,
I count my blessings instead of sheep,
And I fall asleep,
Counting my blessings.
When my bankroll,
Is gettin’ small,
I think of when
I had none at all.
And I fall asleep,
Counting my blessings.“
Here is the scene in the movie, too! Such great music and a beautiful voice. I WILL be watching this movie this season!
Anyway, I love the idea of lying in bed awake and instead of tossing and turning thinking about our problems (which seems to be the human brain’s default…), lying there thinking one by one about the many blessings in our lives.
I was actually awake the other night and this song popped into my head and I tried it. 🙂 It was very soothing and relaxing, and….I actually did fall asleep!
Happy, happy Thanksgiving!
I’m so grateful to have this little space on the internet to focus on and share my own blessings with you all. I hope that I have been able to help at least one person pause in a busy day and remember how much they have to be grateful for, too. But, more than anything, this space helps ME to grow and nourish my own gratitude practice and outlook on life. So, thank you for reading and helping me along the way. 🙂
This is why I do it:

The more we focus on things to be grateful for (and the good and the wonderful in life), the more we magically have TO be grateful for. ❤
What are you focusing on and attracting to your life? 😊
Daily Gratitude:
I am grateful for every single person who reads my words and has encouraged me, either with a simple click on my site or the lovely comments you leave. Thank you!
Happy thanksgiving Kae! What a great shift in thinking about things in the middle of the night. I will definitely be trying that out. All the best! Eric

You should definitely watch “White Christmas” during the holiday season. We watched it in school and then I’ve seen it a few times on my own. It’s a good one w/ great music and a sweet story line.
I’m so behind on blogs but hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving – I’ll find out as I keep reading through your posts from the last several days!
