Life, Summer, Things I Love

Garth Brooks concert recap! 🤠

Ahhh, the Garth Brooks concert was SO FUN!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤩 I’m so glad I went.

I rode with my volleyball friend and her mom (who was super nice and even insisted on paying for my dinner!!). We went out for dinner at Wicked Hop in Milwaukee’s Third Ward before the concert, a fun brewery about 3/4 mile from the Summerfest grounds.

Thankfully we planned in plenty of extra time for everything, which ended up working out great. Everything went super smoothly!

We didn’t have a dinner reservation (by the time we got organized enough to think about restaurants, their reservations were all booked), but I had called and they said to just go ahead and try to walk in. We arrived by around 4:30, waited maybe 15 minutes, and got a table no problem. Bonus, our concert parking lot was literally right in front of the restaurant. Definitely helped that we were just a little ahead of the concert rush. If we had shown up an hour later it likely would have been a different story. (I did have a back up reservation somewhere else but it was a little farther away, so this was our first choice.)

We had a relaxed dinner with drinks and it was fun! Thankfully, the weather was also nicer than expected. By concert time the clouds had all moved out and it was full blue sky. I never even needed to wear my fleece. I did layer my flannel shirt on and off from time to time, but I was never cold and it didn’t rain. YAY!

Once arriving at the concert grounds, we had a bit of time to kill, so we milled around and got pre-concert drinks.

I am NOT drinking a big can of Coke! hahaha. It’s some kind of strawberry vodka cooler thing.

Eventually we headed in to our seats and parted ways.

I was seated in between a nice couple from Marinette, WI (the lady was about my age, probably a little younger, and she was very friendly and we chatted a bit) and a woman and her mom to my right.

Garth started promptly at 8, no opener.

He played ALL the good ones (well, as many as would fit in the concert!) and it was SUCH A BLAST!!!!

He hasn’t been touring lately (I think his last tour wrapped up in 2022) besides his Vegas residency that ended over a year ago now. And I believe the Vegas residency was a smaller venue, not a full amphitheater type experience.

So this was his first full scale concert in a long time and Milwaukee’s Summerfest is his only scheduled concert in North America this summer. He has a handful of other concerts lined up including I think Hyde Park next week in London, but he’s not doing a full tour.

He kept just grinning up at the huge crowd and saying, “YESSSSSSS!!!! Oh I’ve missed this!!! I NEEDED this!!!” He seemed to be just having soooo much fun. He was like, “I could literally stand here with my guitar all night until 8:00 tomorrow night, I just love doing this!” (Obviously he does not need the money at this point, lol. The internet says his estimated net worth is $400 million which makes him the wealthiest country music artist in the world after Dolly Parton. (I also read online that he is on the cusp of possibly selling the rights to his entire music catalog for $2 billion. 😲 omg.)

Anyway! He was great and so fun and seemed so nice and his BAND, omg! They were incredible. His fiddler! Amazing. And almost all of the people up there have been with him since like, 1991!! Most of them are pretty old. I feel so grateful that I got to see him now, because who knows how much longer he/ they will even do concerts.

I sang along to every single song like a crazy person (my sister texted me beforehand to have so much fun and to “sing loud and proud” and I SURE DID!!!! 😅).

Here are a couple of video clips if you’re interested!

Friends in Low Places:

And Callin’ Baton Rouge! This one was such a blast live!

This was definitely a bucket list experience for me! ✅

Has anyone else seen Garth in concert? He had another concert at Summerfest last night (my date on Tuesday was actually a bonus date after the original date, Wednesday, sold out right away).

Daily Gratitude:

I have a little laundry list today: I’m grateful for this concert! I’m grateful for the World Cup and how fun it has been to watch the world come together around such a fun sport. It’s been a crazy World Cup so far with some very unexpected outcomes. I was bummed to miss Messi’s HAT TRICK on Tuesday night (I was at the concert). Mexico plays tonight and Ivan wore his Mexico jersey to work! Hahaha. I’m grateful that I got ALL PACKED last night for our trip in record time, thanks to some seriously helpful tips from my buddy Chat. 😉 More on that tomorrow!

  1. What a fun experience! I am glad the weather cooperated. I did not realize he wasn’t touring anymore. Sounds like he needs to get back on the road since he had so much fun! Garth Brooks songs really bring me back to HS since that is when my fandom peaked. I kind of stopped listening to his music in college but can still sing the lyrics to the albums I owned in HS!
