Saturday style scenes

Last week I talked about my ongoing battle with my closet. Not a new topic around here. (That, as well as me whining about overpacking.)

I vowed to try taking pics of my daily outfits for a while. In the past, this has helped me actually wear some different things, be a bit more mindful, and can encourage me to wear some of the “maybe” items to decide if I truly want to keep them or not.

So, I did this week! Did I dress like a fashion model as a result? No. But that’s okay.

I did come to the conclusion that summer clothes are WAY easier for me. My biggest wardrobe struggle is winter/ cold weather bottoms that are comfy for working from home (ie I don’t really love sitting at my desk in jeans all day…) but that aren’t athleisure (ie they work with sweaters or cuter tops for being on camera).

In warm weather, I have a bunch of drawstring or pull on pants that make me feel a lot more put together (like a satisfactory outfit that I wouldn’t wear to the gym).

I guess this needs to be my shopping priority for the fall. What I really want are some COMFY black/ navy/ grey (maybe? whatever- just some neutrals) pants that do not squeeze me in any way when I sit, work with actual shoes for winter, and coordinate with actual work appropriate tops.

This week was maybe not the best sample week, though. I had weirdly few meetings, and all the ones I had were rather informal. SO I did dress pretty casually on top this week (and just threw a cardigan on for a couple on camera meetings). It was also really hot this week! So lots of sleeveless/ tanks.

Monday: Memorial Day! Off work. Hot day. Out downtown for casual lunch/ walking around/ hanging at terrace.

Tuesday:

Morning gym. Made a point to grab a different pair of leggings (I go in spurts where I’ll just wear the same pair on repeat repeat repeat…).

red Lulu align leggins

For the rest of the day, I will admit I fell into my habit of just grabbing whatever bottom I left out from the day before (the green shorts from Monday, folded on top of my dresser….) and put those on again. Ha. I had run a couple errands in the morning and just threw this navy tank on which was meeting appropriate with a cardigan.

my legs look so pale. I guess my Virgin Islands tan is long gone! Or it’s weird lighting. Unclear.

Ivan and I went to see the Michael Jackson movie at night, so I added this very fancy white zip up to complete the outfit. 😅

Wednesday:

Work from home day with a couple meetings. We can wear sleeveless, just not strappy tanks. Paired with some black wide leg linen pants and sandals.

Thursday:

An extra casual work from home day with barely any meetings!

I got these rust-colored pants before spring break and I looove them. They’re so so comfy.

Friday:

I showered early but then decided to just put yoga clothes on because I was planning to walk Charlie quickly for a mid-morning break and then do yoga on my lunch hour….Plus, FRIDAY.

Wore a black tank, maroon leggings, sandals (slippers at my desk…), and a zip up (was chilly in the a.m.!). For my 2 meetings I swapped out for a tan cardigan that hangs in my office, lol.

After work it was HOT and I was feeling cheery and summery, so I decided to put a dress on for nacho night.

And so far, Saturday: PJs in the sunroom. 😅

Heading off to shower and get ready to go to my parents’ house for the day! (by myself). Looking forward to catching up with them and chatting about the upcoming move, some logistics, etc.

Daily Gratitude:

Nachos were extra good last night! We actually don’t always get nachos anymore so it was yummy.

Fri-yay

Bonus pic:

I laughed at this truck when I pulled into the gas station yesterday morning. HAHA. No temptation there….

seriously?! What kind of cruel temptation is this?! 😅😅

  1. Your summer style is my summer style. I would wear all of these clothes 🙂 (and have similar tops and shorts in my closet).

  2. I love all of these outfits! Those green shorts are so cute. You look very pulled together in these outfits. When I work from home, I look presentable from the waist up but always wear comfy pants, usually sweatpants from Athleta.

  4. Thank you for making me feel normal for always wearing the same gym outfit and then just switching out an item as it gets too dirty. Also, fabulous dress!

I love all your outfits, but would push back on shorts for the movies. Don’t your legs get cold???

  6. These are great outfits! I love that dress, it looks cute AND comfy, which is a hard combo to find. I am also loving the dressy top and black linen pants — I am always on the lookout for dressier tops like that one. And those are great shorts!

  7. You should definitely check out Athleta Endless pant and Brooklyn. Very comfy, work appropriate but I’d wear them anywhere. They are a bit cropped but I don’t mind that in winter so they aren’t dependent on what shoes you want to wear.

  8. You have such cute style! I love all your outfits. I am definitely guilty of looking presentable on top, sweatpants on bottom during my work-from-home days, HA.
