Fuzzy socks win and thoughts on NaBloPoMo

Haven’t shared an OOTD in a while now… I am still attempting to “get dressed” more days than not and unearth some unworn items from my closet. But it’s a little spotty and depends on the day.

Yesterday I had a meeting, so I decided to wear “dress pants” to just feel a bit more put together. (It was a casual meeting, and no one was actually going to see my pants, but still. I just felt like feeling slightly more professional.)

It was also freezing outside- like in the 20s. So I went with a warm sweater and black pants (which are soooo comfy- they feel like sweatpants, honestly, but they’re actually dress pants.)

At first I put on flats, which is what I would have worn probably to the office, I suppose.

And then I was like… no. It’s freezing out.

Fuzzy socks for the win. 🙂

Anyway, no one saw my pants OR my socks. Basically all anyone sees of me on a meeting is this:

Hiiiiii

(And I always blur my background. I know my laundry room/office is pretty fancy and all 🤣. HA. But we don’t need my washing machine in the frame behind me.)

NaBloPoMo ending!

And just like that, we’re almost done with NaBloPoMo. This was fun!

I enjoyed doing it. I am also probably ready for the “pressure” of having to post every single day to ease up. (Although, keeping my posts shorter and very spontaneous was definitely the right call for me.) It felt more like a quick journal entry most days, which was actually really fun.

In reality, I am sure I could post in this style any time! It’s not really very different from my usual posts, I guess. I’m not a very structured blogger at all. I think the main difference is that I might not always pop in to just post something really random if I don’t have a broader topic on my mind to discuss. But I suppose I could!

I have really enjoyed reading everyone else’s posts. I did have some difficulty keeping up. This has been an extra busy time for me, so I did more quick reading on my phone than usual. I tried to stay in touch with at least some comments here and there, but I really don’t love commenting from my phone! So I did more reading and a bit less commenting. Oh well!

What was your favorite thing about NaBloPoMo?

Daily Gratitude:

I am grateful for getting the fridge cleaned out today. The last of the Thanksgiving leftovers had to go.

  1. I LOVE your sweater. Will you let us know where you got it?

This month flew by. I have been so terrible about reading posts lately that I will have a lot to catch up on during the long days of December.

  2. I loved doing NaBloPoMo, but I am very much ready for it to be done! I love blogging, and tend to have a fairly regimented schedule, but there is something different about the intensity for this month! I’m excited to NOT post this Saturday and Sunday, I’ll tell you that ❤

But meeting new bloggers and just being blow away by some of the really interesting/fun/inspiring content.

Also love the sweater. And, as you can imagine, I'm a big fan of fuzzy socks.

    1. Yes, I know you generally follow a schedule but exactly- there’s something just different about those extra couple days!! And trying to keep up with others adds a whole other layer. I agree there has been some FABULOUS post ideas and content though! People are so creative. 🙂

    1. Good point about December being extra busy with holidays, etc. I will probably try to do some daily posts from Mexico from my phone, since it’s a fun little outlet for me to have something to do separate from all the family time. 😉

  4. I literally JUST reflected on NaBloPoMo and have many of the same thoughts. I went in as personal challenge for myself and now it’s done and I’m ready to take a break. I love the sweater and your eye makeup!

    1. I loved your self-grading system on your post… what a teacher-y thing to do. 😉 Haha! I’ve really enjoyed your posts this month. I feel like we adopted a similar style- fairly short, pretty random, honest, off the top of our head type posts.

  5. I do enjoy the WFH wardrobe of “business on the top/party on the bottom” but every once in a while I will actually put on proper pants for meetings. Though when I say proper pants I mean jeans since my last in office role was casual dress.

Congrats on the end of NaBloPo!!! It was so fun getting to hang out every day.

    1. I definitely lean toward just wearing leggings and a cute top/ sweater/ cardigan for meetings. Nothing wrong with it, but sometimes I feel like I should make more of an effort to wear “real pants”….. I guess I’m not really sure why it matters. Maybe I just don’t want to “let myself go”, lol. But it’s also so nice to be comfy, and I think I can still usually look plenty nice in black leggings and a cute top 😉

  6. Do you ever listen to the Happier Podcast? I think it was a couple years ago- the hosts, Gretchen and Elizabeth, made it a goal to “wear clothes” for an entire month, which I thought was really funny. As in, not slouch around in pajamas or sweatpants all day. Anyway your post reminded me of that!
Yes, I’m mostly relieved NaBloPoMo is ending, but I”ll miss all the posts (if you’re taking a poll, I definitely think you should continue to post regularly, if not daily! Your posts are always fun to read.) I also had trouble keeping up with reading and commenting, and I feel a little bad about that. Well, we did our best!

    1. I listen to some of their episodes! I feel like I remember hearing them talk about that. I guess I’m sort of doing the same, except more of like… every other day. haha!

I hope to continue blogging frequently! I really fell off the wagon earlier this fall especially right after we got Charlie. But this was a good reminder that I CAN blog at different times of the day (outside of my “preferred” window), I CAN post from my phone, and I CAN post short, random posts if that’s all I have time for or want to. You were a rockstar commenter!! And poster! You had such fun, interesting post ideas this month!! A+!

  7. I will miss having a full reader when I check it in the morning, that’s for sure! I will not missing posting daily. I will not miss that at all.

So, I don’t care much for fuzzy socks. I KNOW. I have sensory issues and if socks aren’t wool, I get antsy. You’re always sliding around in fuzzy socks and I don’t know if they’re even much warmer than my regular socks/slippers combo, so when people give me fuzzy socks, I never know what to do with them!

    1. I actually think I prefer the slipper sock type versus the fuzzy socks! Because the slipper socks have those grippy things on the bottom. AND, they have just a bit more structure, so they kind of almost feel like I’m wearing a shoe… (which makes me feel a little more “professional” if I’m on a meeting and just want to be in that mental space but not actually wearing a shoe…). But I do also have several fuzzy socks. I actually started keeping a couple pairs in my basement office cabinet, because sometimes I’d find myself downstairs in just regular socks (like athletic socks, if I’d been out walking, etc.) and then find myself with cold toes! But too lazy to go back upstairs to get slippers. Haha. This has been a smart move. 😉

  8. I also do the business on top/extreme comfort on the bottom approach when I WFH. And warm socks are a must as I am so prone to getting cold. I’m basically going to be wearing wool socks every day until like April at this point. Your outfit looks great! This time of year is challenging because I do prefer flats but flats don’t look good with socks, or at least my Rothy’s don’t. That’s part of why I wear dresses as they do look ok with tights. I did buy some of those pants you recommended although I have yet to try them on. I had them delivered to the Macy’s by us – the shipping would have been like half the cost of the pants otherwise! But I haven’t been motivated to actually open the package and try them on. That’s the general vibe around here…

    1. YES, I was thinking the same exact thing yesterday when I put on those dress pants. They are a little bit looser fit, but still kind of an ankle length, so they don’t seem to work really with any of the ankle boots I own. (Perhaps with just the right slim bootie or something they’d work? But with the options I have in my closet, they all looked funny.) So I would wear flats with these pants too, but I was also thinking, gosh, it’s cold and there’s snow on the ground. If I had to go into the office, what the heck would I wear with these??! Fortunately I just went down my basement steps so it didn’t matter. But that is always a conundrum in my head, and I remember it being a constant struggle when I worked in the office more. I think I used to just wear bigger snow boots into the office and then changed into my flats when I got there. But it wouldn’t work to say, go out to dinner after work or for drinks in that outfit. I suppose in that case I would just have cold ankles?? That is one perk of the true skinny pant. I think they are definitely easier to style with some sort of ankle boot. (But a lot of the dressy ankle boots are heeled, and I am already tall and don’t really like to wear heeled anything.)

I was wondering if those Macy’s pants worked for you! Maybe they’ll be one of those things that worked great for me, but not for you! Who knows! Hopefully they do though since they’re a great price. 🙂 And I am QUEEN of buying/ ordering stuff and then letting it sit in the bag in my room for weeks. Seriously. It drives Ivan nuts. He’s always like “WHAT IS ALL THIS STUFF. You’re going to miss the return window!!” hahaha. It’s just such a drag to try things on, inspect the mirror, etc etc…. ugh. Yuck. We get free shipping at Macy’s for being Rewards members bc Ivan buys almost ALL of his work clothes from Macy’s! And there is one near his work, so it works well for him to order online and then return in the store if needed.

  9. It’s definitely fuzzy sock season in my house too. And I do blur my background on calls (or even use one of the fake backgrounds) because I work from the living room LOL

Thanks so much for participating in NaBloPoMo this year. I was blown away by all the people who signed up and everyone followed through even though it was such a huge commitment to write, read and comment!
