I slept in a little today. 🙂 Actually, my alarm went off at 5:30 as usual but I just kind of lay there in the dark for a little bit, awake. When I finally shut off the snooze button, I was greeted with this lovely message.
Yay for….clear conditions? Ha. I can’t really cheer for -18 degree wind chills. I have made it pretty clear that on the whole I do NOT mind winter. I enjoy the cozy aspect of staying in, lighting the fireplace, burning candles, etc. I also enjoy warm sweaters, boots, hot drinks and all of that.
Single digit temps and below zero wind chills kind of push the envelope for me, though. I guess I like winter provided that I can still safely “enjoy” it. (I will definitely get out for a walk or hot tub session in even 10-15 degree temps). However, when I have to worry about frost bite, I’m not a fan. 😦 Then I start to feel a little trapped and cooped up. It’s going to be pretty freezing cold all week around here, unfortunately. Oh well! Not a darn thing I can do about it, is there. 🙂
Another reason I don’t normally mind colder temps…I get to wear my cute hat! I bought this in Ireland a couple years ago when I went to visit and I LOVE it!!! It’s so comfy and I just really like how it fits and looks on me. Plus, I think of Ireland. 🙂

On an unrelated note, remember my word of the year, “peace”?
Last week when I had a couple of sort of “off”/ anxious feeling days, I printed this little sheet and colored it in during a break one afternoon. I’m not a pro at coloring (can’t actually remember the last time I colored something), but it was really fun! This now hangs on my office wall as a little reminder of what I’m trying to focus on this year.

It also inspired me to pick up these adult coloring books at the grocery store the next day.

I will admit I have always thought the idea of adult coloring books was totally dorky. But these were cheap and I thought it might actually be a relaxing way to foster a bit of creative energy from time to time. (I am not “artistic” at all, but it’s probably good to not totally ignore that part of my brain.) It seems like it might be a nice activity to do while the boys are practicing piano, or even maybe just while listening to a podcast or something. 🙂 Has anyone who is not <10 years old tried coloring lately?? 😉
Daily Gratitude:
I am grateful that when I got home yesterday after the weekend away, I found that Ivan and Ethan had left the house totally clean, floors swept and mopped, beds made, dishes done and everything straightened up. It was so great to walk into a clean house after being gone.
I hate this weather! I also will enjoy the outdoors as long as it’s 10 or warmer. But this weather is dangerously cold so I feel especially trapped since I can’t see people indoors. I can’t wait for it to warm up!!
I had adult coloring books when they were popular. I colored when they first came out and then they got tossed during a purge as I hadn’t used them in a long time. I did give some to some girlfriends as part of a $10 favorite things gift exchange. I think I would be drawn to using them again as it’s a good mindless activity that calmed me. I am not at all artistic either!! But now that Paul likes to color/use stickers it’s something I could do while he is doing that. But I need to not be holding a baby allll the time to be able to do that again!!
