I have no strength or energy this morning to write a usual post. The world feels heavy and sad. I just don’t even have words to describe what I’m thinking and feeling right now about the state of things happening in our country, nor is this blog meant to be a place for heated discussions or debates.
Instead, I’ll leave the words of someone who seemed to always know what to say:
“Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction. So when Jesus says “Love your enemies,” he is setting forth a profound and ultimately inescapable admonition. Have we not come to such an impasse in the modern world that we must love our enemies– or else? The chain reaction of evil–hate begetting hate, wars producing wars–must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.”
― Martin Luther King Jr., Strength to Love, 1963
Let’s all just go be the light today. 💗

It was a super dark and heavy weekend here in Minneapolis. I'm so sad for my community and the devastation that has occurred. There are the protesters who are peacefully fighting for change and then there are those who are looting and setting fire to buildings. It's so sad.

I thought of you and another good friend who lives in MN. I hope you are all safe. The whole thing is just sad, on every level, in so many different ways and for so many different reasons. Hard to process it all.
