We ended up having something every night this week.
Monday– swim board meeting
Tuesday– went to see The Odyssey basically right after work
Wednesday– our 19th anniversary! We had early dinner reservations at 5:30 and I had a meeting until 5….
Thursday- Ethan’s soccer game in Verona at 7 pm (35 min away), picked up my parents on the way
All good things, except I guess the swim board meeting, but even that was virtual so not too bad. (I will say- I have VOLUNTEERING SENIORITIS. I am just…. over it. 😬 I am apparently now the “head” of the soccer banquet planning committee for Ethan, and just got an email about setting up a meeting for that. Then of course the HS swim board for Asher. It is impossible to not volunteer in some capacity for swim, especially as many seniors graduated and the team has shrunk drastically.)
All these “fun events” made the week feel a bit more hectic than ideal, at least in my still-sort-of-sensitive post-crazy summer state. HA. For whatever reason, yesterday (Thursday), I was in a MOOD. Everything and everyone was annoying me like you wouldn’t believe.
I literally felt borderline on the edge of a nervous breakdown, I swear. I finally gave up, blocked some time on my work calendar, and went to the gym. I did my Upper Body B workout and stayed for another Body Combat class (kickboxing). I did the virtual instructor option and I was the only one there! It was actually really nice in the big studio with mirrors.

Thankfully, it worked! I was dripping in sweat and I guess some endorphins kicked in because I went back to work then and started to feel much better.
We had a very humid, warm night for Ethan’s soccer game at 7, where he played great and scored a goal! (Almost another one, too, but it hit the crossbar.) A bunch of his friends came out to cheer for him which was so cute. They kept yelling, “Yeah ETHANNNNNNNN!!!” any time he’d do anything. haha. I am so thankful that he became such good friends with these guys! (He met them through the high school tennis team.) They are a great group. 🙂

Backing up to Wednesday, it was our 19th anniversary!
We went to Eno Vino in downtown Madison (a tapas bar), which overlooks the Capitol. It was a HOT night so we kind of regretted sitting outside, actually – it was mildly uncomfortable. But we still had a really nice time.

We got a dessert on the house for our anniversary! Yummy.

I had lake views from my seat:

After a leisurely dinner we did a loop around the Capitol. There was some live jazz concert happening and it was just a gorgeous night.

We swung by my parents’ house on the way home and I had a cup of tea while we chatted for a bit. If you recall, we share an anniversary with them!! They celebrated 54 years. 💕
That’s about all I have for updates from the week. We have no major plans for this upcoming long weekend and I am sooooooooooooooo happy about that!!!
Since we were out the last 2 nights, we’re planning to just lay low tonight at home and relax, I think.
In closing, how about a few Friday funnies? I’ve accumulated a small collection of things that made me laugh this week.

Daily Gratitude:
I am grateful for a 3-day weekend…..
