Beach Report #2

Hello! Left off on our first full day here, Sunday, and now it’s Tuesday morning.

Sunday the weather did end up clearing, fortunately, though the ocean was churned up and we had a double red flag (ocean closed to swimming).

Picking up where I left off:

Sunday afternoon tea/relaxing on the balcony:

Then a bunch of us spent a long while at the pools, ending up in the hot tub.

We opted to stay in Sunday night and ordered pizzas to eat on the balcony.

Once it got dark, my mom, the boys and I took my nieces and nephew down to the beach to look for sand crabs! This was always one of the boys’ favorite beach activities when they were younger.

On the hunt:

On Monday morning after tea Ivan and I took a long walk down the beach. I think we walked about 2 miles in total.

The weather was great! But.. we still had a double red flag due to rip current risk. 😦 Boo.

The kids played around a little in the sand etc but we talked and decided we’d go out for a beachfront lunch, given the ocean conditions, and hope the ocean continued to settle down by later in the day.

Asher and my brother-in-law also had a tee time at 2:10, so we left for lunch by about 11:30.

We went to Pineapple Willy’s, a casual seafood place on the beach. It was nice!

My nieces rode back in our car (Ethan was our driver!) and we did Harry Potter quizzes to see which house the Sorting Hat would put us in. Haha.

When we got back the ocean was still rather wild but back open with only one red flag.

I don’t have any pics of the rest of the afternoon because I was in the water most of the day! My sister’s kids basically needed to be 1:1 with an adult due to the strong waves, so I took one, Ethan took one and my sister took one. We swam and tried to ride waves etc for a long time!

Eventually we moved to pool #1, and later to Pool #2.

After many hours my sister’s kids needed a break so they headed up for snacks and to dry off.

Ivan and I lingered by the pool with my mom and dad for bit and had a drink.

Eventually Asher got back from golfing and I ended up back down on the beach with him and my dad. After Asher went up, my dad and I sat on the now-emptying beach for almost an hour just chatting. 🙂 I love late afternoon on the beach.

Finally went back up, I showered and we ate dinner in our room – we had leftover pizza and a bunch of snackies like cheese and crackers etc.

Then it was sunset time!! 😍

So beautiful, never gets old.

The plan had been to take my sister’s family out on the big fishing pier after dark, which is another long-standing tradition we have done here every year since the kids were little.

It was already on the later side for my sister’s kids (7:45) when we left, but was just getting dark…

We walked through Pier Park just to show them the “main drag” in PCB:

We ended up at the ever popular trampoline bungee thing that my kids had loved when younger. Grandpa ended up offering to pay for all the kids to do it- which ended up including two big kids, too. 😉 Hahaha. (It said, no age limit! You just have to be under 200 lbs)

The boys of course could do more and jump a lot higher than the last time they did this years ago.

The girls and my boys loved it; my nephew was mostly cranky, a bit overtired and frustrated because he couldn’t manage to do any flips. 😅

By the time they finished with that, we ended up having to scratch the fishing pier thing because it was almost 9 pm and was just getting too late for the younger kids (they’re 7, 9 and 11). They headed back to do bed time etc.

The boys opted to ride back with them too to “chill on the balcony”.

My parents, Ivan and I did not need to go to bed yet 😉 so we stayed behind for a drink!

It was a relaxing end to the day.

Today (Tuesday) is a beautiful morning!! My mom and I already went down to stake out a spot on the beach and walked to a convenience store nearby. Big plan for today is a dolphin sighting/snorkeling boat excursion later.
