Happy Easter and my Blogiversary!

Happy, Happy Easter!!

(Picture= a bunch of plastic eggs ready to hide for an egg hunt in the yard later this afternoon with my niece and nephew + Ivan’s sister and mom.)

We are going to do an egg hunt for the first time in a long time (outside!). The weather is supposed to be great- sunny and high of 72.

Traditionally, we haven’t always done an outdoor hunt because the weather in Wisconsin on Easter is notoriously….moody. I swear, many years it seems like it is FREEZING outside in the morning on Easter Sunday.

I actually just looked it up, because I was curious. The high temps for the past 5 Easter Sundays where we live were:

44 F
68 F
34 F(!!!!!) Yes, it’s true. Brrrr. I verified this with official Weather Data!!
80 F(!!!!) 34 one year–> 80 the next year??
54 F (2020)

Lots of variety there, as you can see. 🙂 I remember the 80 degree day in 2019- that was a great one!!

Anyway! Looking forward to hopefully a nice, warm, Easter this year. Next year, who knows- according to the trend, it might snow, so we will appreciate this one. 😊

1 year Blogiversary!!!

Today also marks ONE YEAR since I nervously hit “publish” on my very first post. (I also then put a checkmark next to my line item of “Start a blog??” on my 20 for 2020 list I made in January 2020.)

If there ever was a good time to start a daily writing habit, it was April of 2020, in the midst of the early days of the pandemic. I am grateful (or will be, in the future) to have these detailed records of everything we’ve been going through, right down to the little day to day minutiae.

Thanks to everyone who has been reading and following along!!

A special thanks to Joel for his encouraging words at the beginning: “Just keep going until you hit the 6 month mark. Then, keep going until you reach a year. Then, keep going!” 🙂

Great advice that can be applied to anything we are trying out in life- just keeping going. 😊

Daily Gratitude:

I am grateful that some people out there actually read my blog! Lol!!! Really though, I am. THANK YOU!

  1. Happy anniversary to you and your blog. May you have more happy years together. I’m *grateful* I found and followed you! You seem like such a positive, “make lemonade out of lemons” kind of person.

  2. Congrats! I am so glad that you have kept up with your blog for so long. I know that a year ago on easter I was in a very bad place mentally. Here a year later I am now a home owner and I have pretty much figured out my new normal! Can’t wait to read about your big trip to the east coast this summer. Hopefully it will go off without any issues. My family is trying to figure out how to get to England as my brother just moved there for work and my grandad is not well and we don’t want to not see him again before he passes. We just don’t want to have to quarantine for 2 weeks when we get there! Gaah!

    1. Ugh, best of luck!! That sounds rough!! I really hope you guys are able to work it out. The quarantine requirement thing definitely makes overseas travel very complicated right now. We haven’t even tried to think yet about rescheduling our Ireland/Paris trip…I feel like it will sadly still be a ways off….. But if you’re just going to see family, it might be easier to quarantine in place wherever it is you’re going? I don’t know what all the rules are, though. Good luck!!!

  3. Happy blogaversary! I’m glad I found you!

That weather history is so crazy. Spring in the Midwest is very temperamental. I was so happy that the weather was so nice this weekend. We had the hardest time getting Paul back inside on Saturday and Sunday! We did an egg hunt for him on Sunday afternoon. Last year he was not into it but this year he LOVED it!

  4. happy anniversary. I fully agree Joel’s suggestion, just keep going until it becomes part of your daily habit. writing things down serve so many purposes:
    – journey your life
    – reflect
    – organize thoughts
    – have a conversation with yourself
    – reach out others views.

it’s also like a meditation exercise, isn’t it?

  5. Happy blogiversary! I am so glad I found your blog – and that you are relatively local to me! It’s wonderful to connect with other bloggers in the Midwest. Plus, I really love your positive outlook and dedication to posting. Your posts are so much fun to read. So thank you for continuing for a year – and I hope you continue for years to come!
