It’s Wednesday, which means it’s my day off….oh wait. Nope, flex days are over!! Ha. I’m not complaining- I am very grateful overall to be back to full time hours and pay this week. But hey, it was nice while it lasted! Can’t say I didn’t enjoy having Wednesdays off for the last 8 weeks.
It reminds me of this scene from the movie “You, Me and Dupree.” Have you ever seen it? With Owen Wilson. It’s older now, but pretty hilarious! There’s this scene where he goes in for a job interview, since he has been living with/ mooching off some friends for too long and they think he needs to get a job and get a life…. but he is not so “motivated”, shall we say.
This scene cracks me up! Give it a watch, it’s only like 50 seconds (click to my site from email if reading there).
Manager: “Why don’t you describe yourself, Mr. Dupree.”
Mr. Dupree: “I’m a people person. Very personable. I absolutely insist on enjoying life. Uhhh….not so task oriented. Not a workhorse- if you’re looking for a Clydesdale, I’m probably not your man. Like, I don’t live to work, it’s more the other way around, I work to live…. Incidentally, what’s your policy on Columbus Day?”
Manager: “Uh, we..we work.”
Dupree: “REALLY?! The guy discovered the new world! I’m afraid to even ask about Victory Over Japan day!”
Manager: (looks confused and kind of appalled….)
LOL!! Too funny. The thought of anyone answering questions like that during a job interview has me in stitches. Just love that line about Columbus Day!! That’s a little bit how I feel today….like, wait, I have to work today??? 😁 Oh well! Good thing I like my job.
Other than that, nothing too exciting happening here.

That clip is funny! I haven't seen that movie. I will have to see if it's on Netflix, Hulu or Prime. Seems like a light movie my husband and I would both enjoy. I definitely work Wednesdays but I have a friend who has that day off and she loves having a mid-week day off! She started working 4 days/week when she had kids. That is so not an option in my industry, though! We are having leftovers for dinner tonight. But last night we had tacos with ground turkey. it's something we know our son will eat so we try to have them every other week. But the taco filling has to be ground meat. We tried getting him to eat shrimp and that was a no go and he also doesn't care for chicken. He is sooo picky but hopefully he grows out of it.

Yeah, check it out! I don't remember that much about it-it is an older movie- but Owen Wilson is just so funny. I think it was an entertaining movie. Kate Hudson is in it. I don't know how, but that scene just really stuck with me. Haha! Ground turkey tacos sounds good too. Since we tend to eat more "traditional Mexican food" (i.e. not ground beef with taco seasoning and lettuce and cheese…), the boys never really had tacos like that before until they had them at school. Well, they loved them! ha! I promised I would make "american style tacos", as my husband calls them, sometime next week.

Now with the quarantine, I feel like everyday is flex work day. If i have urgent matters, I work nonstop, if not and don't feel like working, I chill out. that interview Q&A is really funny! I find the whole interview process so stressful, have to proof oneself, but don't know any better way.my girls love cooking with me and my older one loves making me company when I cook as she thinks it's so interesting, so I can expect them to take over the kitchen when they are old enough, which would be really great!I hate how I look in goggles tooo….. soooooo weird.

Oooh I like the idea of kids cooking dinner! I read a blog once where they had their six year old making breakfast everyday – like eggs and toast, using the stove and everything! It was a big family so maybe they had to start em young 😂 We certainly aren’t ready for that here but it will be nice when the kids can help with snacks and at least some food. We have a lockdown tradition of baking on Fridays and the girls love to ‘help’ – I am usually like ‘just go sit over there and don’t touch ANYTHING’ by the end of it! Patience not my strong suit clearly… but they are good spoon lickers 🙂

Yeah, I'm super impatient when it comes to cooking and baking with them too, actually. I'm always like, "not like that!" or "here, just let me…." hahaha! It's getting slightly easier now that they are older. Sometimes it helps if I just get out of there. I try to be mindful of the fact that all of the cooking steps are not exactly intuitive. It drives me nuts if they hold something weird or can't seem to figure out a simple step, but I guess how would they know if they've never done it before?!? Ha. I have good spoon lickers too. 🙂
