Vacation mode

Charlie, at 7:16 a.m.

I was heading out of the shower (I was up by 5:30 even on my day off… what can I say) and Ivan was heading into the shower. Charlie thought we were all crazy and settled into my spot to keep sleeping, trying to ignore the lamp Ivan had turned on. (Eventually Charlie followed me out to go for his walk, but he can be LAZY in the morning! On the weekends, he’ll often stay in bed sleeping until 8:30-9, if Ivan stays in bed that long.)

  1. My goodness – Charlie is just my life goal. LOVE. IT.

I hope you have the best, most restorative day off. Woot, woot. Gold stars for giving yourself this well-deserved breather.

  2. Poor Charlie! It’s a ruff life.

Usually Doggo is awake when I open her crate but there have been a few mornings when she’s still asleep. Once we come back inside from our first outing, she starts her morning nap routine. It’s very precise – there is the post-bed nap, the breakfast nap, and the First Nap of the Day when the workday starts.

  3. Oh Charlie! Way to live your best life! I also can’t really sleep in on days off. I mean usually I have my children that will wake me up even if I want to sleep in. But when we went to Mexico, I was up around 6:30 each day (which would be sleeping in for you). But it’s a different feeling to wake up early when it happens naturally and not because of an alarm clock or a yelling child.
