Broken streak, Christmas lights and a fun meet up!

NaBloPoMo Fail:

Well, I officially failed. Yesterday, Friday 11/24, I did not post a blog post. DANG IT!!! I made it 23 days in November with a post every single day, and now I failed.

The annoying thing is, I totally could have at least done another quick photo-only post or even just a “Hi, this is a post!” post. Haha.

But I was actually busy yesterday; Asher had swim practice from 8-10 a.m. in the far away pool, so I took him to that and worked from my laptop. My parents headed home mid-afternoon, so I was tied up seeing them off and chatting a bit. More work ensued all afternoon, followed by a long evening walk with Charlie, and then going out for, of course, nachos last night.

When we got home I was just TIRED and didn’t have it in me to even open the WordPress app. Womp womp.

That’s okay- I can still finish out the rest of this month. Believe it or not, I am getting better lately at not getting so hung up on needing things to be “perfect”. I used to get so bent out of shape if I missed a workout or whatever I had “planned” to do, but now things have been so perpetually crazy that I’m actually finding myself better able to just brush it off, shrug and say, Oh well. I just move on and pick it back up the next day. The reality is, what we do most days matters much more than what we do one day.

*Also failing at commenting much this week, though I AM reading people’s posts… They have been so, so fun!

Nighttime lights:

I’m so excited Christmas lights are back. When I was “a runner”‘ back in the day, I used to LOVE running at night in the dark evening and seeing Christmas lights. Now I walk Charlie instead of running, but I still love the lights.

Not Christmas lights, but a beautiful walk through the park!
Do you like blue Christmas lights? I’ll admit I really don’t, in general…blue is not a Christmas color IMO….but these were pretty.

Blogger Meet Up!

I attended a blogger meet up today with NGS and another blogger (who I won’t name, as I know she likes to keep a lower profile and I am not sure she wants it shared).

It was super fun!! I’m thankful to them for the invite. We had a great time- a visit to an (underwhelming, lol) historical museum and a coffee shop stop for some great conversation. 🙂

There is a funny story behind this photo and posing with these balloons… hahaha! You kinda had to be there. Also, I did not ask if they wanted their photos shared so I hid their photos, but I’m happy to “unblock” either of you if you’re okay with it! (*update- NGS now shown in the photo with me 🙂

Charlie:

And, your daily dose of Charlie:

Bent paw = chill mode 😎
Isn’t it so cute how his ears are so dark compared to the rest of him???

I never really recapped Thanksgiving yet, but I’m out of (over, actually) words for today, so I’ll save that for later.

We just got home from seeing the new Hunger Games prequel movie (really liked it!!) and I’m headed to relax a bit before bed.

Daily Gratitude:

I am grateful for a fun blogger meet up! I never actually dreamed when I started blogging that I would meet and connect with REAL people this way!

  1. No worries on missing a day. I missed the first day! 🤣 And so fun to meet up with other bloggers. I’ve been trying to write a post about just that topic… hopefully tomorrow.

Thank you for the photos! Especially of that sweet puppy.

  2. Love the daily dose of cute Charlie! So fun that you got to meet some bloggers in person!! It’s always fun to meet people after interacting through blogs!

And no worries about missing a day. It happens. It’s good to let it go and move on. I have become more flexible as I have gotten older. Kids make it hard to truly control your life.

  3. Yay for streak breaking! It is fun to write every day but also fun to live your life and just blog when you can. Also yay for blogger meetups. My unofficial goal for next year is to start meeting people in person. I mean, I’m running out of Frank Lloyd Wright houses to visit so I’ve got to find a “next thing”.

    1. I am excited that I have now met a grand total of 3 bloggers!! Lisa is on my short list…I need to make that happen sooner than later. We are just a few hours apart, so it is very doable.

  4. Ha ha. Feel free to unblock me. I’m not a secret CIA spy like I suspect of other people!

No worries about missing a day. It’s about the spirit of NaBloPoMo!

  5. Don’t worry- we won’t kick you out of NaBloPoMo for missing a day! I’ve fallen off on my commenting these last few days because it was so busy. We’re all just doing our best.
A BLOGGER MEETUP, how fun! You got to meet Engie! Of course now I’m trying to figure out who the mystery blogger is (someone who lives in Wisconsin? hmmmm…)
Thanks you for providing our daily dose of Charlie!

  6. Streaks are meant to be broken. And you blog SO regularly so this is NOT a failure at all. You’re a very prolific blogger.

Love the pics and am so jealous you got to do a blogger meetup. I’m pretty sure I know how the other person is how delightful the three of you were able to get together ❤

  7. Oh, that is so awesome that you could meet up with Engie and another blogger (have a suspicion)… it’s so nice to meet people you already KNOW in real life 🙂 So fun!

And don’t worry about the missed day. It happens. I am impressed with everyone because you guys all really kept it up this year. No easy feat.

  8. Gah, that blogger meet-up looks like so much fun! I have my suspicions who the other mystery blogger is by her own post, tehehe. Bloggers are secret detectives, didn’t ya know?! That’s so fun you guys could meet up and have some fun together!

Nobody is going to make you feel bad for missing a day of NaBloPoMo – it’s all about having fun here! And I’m glad you’re getting back on the horse and seeing it out through the end. Yay!

  9. Yay for a fun meet up! Despite the underwhelming museum. 🙂
Charlie is just the most adorable little guy.
Your day sounds bonkers enough without a post – consistency counts, too!
