Phew, this was a busy day.
It went:
* 4:55 am wake up
* leave home 5:15, Asher to swim by 5:30 am
* straight to grocery store by 5:45 am… trying to beat the crowds! It worked.

(More on this later but we are doing a sort of phoned in Thanksgiving this year for the first time EVER. We made the executive decision to order a pre-made catered Turkey Feast from a grocery store. I just needed to pick up some items for a few filler things I’m still making. But the bulk of it will be picked up between 9-9:30 tomorrow.)
* pick up Asher 6:50 am
* home and put groceries away
* shower
* boys to eye doctor 8:20
*9-10 breakfast out with boys
* 10:00 boys dentist appts
* 10:45-12:15 home and rake leaves in front yard with boys – weather was good and our big tree finally dropped all its leaves. Also made a pot of soup to use up some ingredients before they went bad.
*12:15 dropped Ethan off at gym then down to office to work all afternoon. Left soup simmering on stove.
*12:15-4:30: work. Boys cleaned the bathrooms! And played video games.
4:30-6:00 misc… walk Charlie, parents arrived, etc.
6:30-8:30 out to dinner with parents
9:00 writing this post in front of fireplace on phone .. everyone hanging in living room, just finished watching end of Bucks loss.

I had wanted to do another 24 Hour Gratitude Challenge today, which I did last year on Thanksgiving week. But, I realized around noon that I forgot to start paying attention and recording these. Which seems about right for this year… par for the course. Ha.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve!
Daily Gratitude:
I am grateful for my dad and I not having to cook everything this year! Feels a bit strange, but the right call this time.

Yay for executive decisions! Sometimes cooking is the right thing to do, sometimes it is NOT. I will admit to loving an early grocery store run, though I don’t do them very often. Thanksgiving eve is the perfect time!

The grocery store is really awesome at that time of day! Actually, I used to go early like that a lot, but have gotten out of that habit. I should maybe reconsider rebuilding that into my schedule.

Thanks! We’ll see how we feel about it all at the end of the day! I think it was definitely the right call this year! And maybe for future years 😉

That is busy, but I think it’s brilliant to outsource the work for Thanksgiving. We basically did the same for our Thanksgiving celebration in October – a rotisserie chicken, boxed stuffing, and only veggies that could be steamed or came in a can. It took 30 minutes from start to finish to get dinner on the table and I was VERY thankful about that ❤
Happy Thanksgiving, friend!!

Thank you! I think if we were doing it with JUST us, I would have simplified it even more!! The downside is that the order out option ended up being quite expensive… I think truly simplifying it I might have done exactly what you did.

Sometimes outsourcing is the best choice and it sounds like it was a good choice for your family this year! Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m VERY glad you’re not cooking everything this year! Things are busy enough as it is. I hope the food is delicious and that you have a wonderful day!

The only reason that we’re not having a catered TG is because I didn’t plan far enough in advance. We’re doing a small family celebration today with a turkey breast and I was going to just buy stuffing and green bean casserole…but the deli was out so now I’m making stuffing and green bean casserole lol.
Wait teenage boys are capable of cleaning bathrooms? WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME THIS BEFORE NOW????????????????????

You have enough going on without making a Thanksgiving dinner!! We just had to bring a few sides. But we are on our way home because taco came down with a fever after we got to my brothers. Womp womp. Is there a virus we haven’t had this fall? And of course I feel awful that we exposed people to something. But he was completely healthy until around when it was time to eat. I will text you the sad photo of him.

5:45 am is the IDEAL time to shop for groceries. Who knew? Also, phoning in the dinner… with everything else you have going on, I’d say “good choice”! 🙂

Early grocery store runs ftw, for sure. I only go as ‘late’ as I do because one of my stores changed its opening from 6 to 7.
And yay for bathrooms you did not clean!!!
