Wednesday was our last full day at this condo. The plan was mostly a pool/beach day + a nice sunset dinner out at 6 pm.
After morning tea time etc, the boys went to play some tennis:

I wanted to go see at least one more beach and decided on Lindquist. A friend had told me recently it was one of her favorites.
I offered for anyone to join us but the boys were happy staying at the resort and ultimately my parents were, too. This ended out working out fine because Lindquist also charges an admission fee, so by just me and Ivan going, we saved some money! 🙂
We made a couple sandwiches and then Ivan and I drove the ~10 minutes to the beach. This one is in a “state park” of sorts, meaning it’s more protected and has no real amenities.
It is sooooo beautiful though!!
Lindquist Beach

Hard to see in the pics, but it’s almost fully encircled by varying levels of hills out in the distance. It gives it just a stunning look, with the green hill in various shades contrasting with the blue water.

There’s supposed to normally be good snorkeling in the sea grass here, specifically for seeing sea turtles and sting rays, I think, but there were big waves yesterday! First waves we’ve really seen all trip. (There was an earthquake in the region on Tuesday, and I think this is part of the impact- and also the wind direction.)
Ivan and I tried to snorkel a little just to see, but it was too choppy. There was also a really strong current that was a little scary. (There are rip tide warnings for the northern shore right now.)
We walked down the beach away from the main area which was really pleasant.

Spent a long while sitting in our chairs, and then we did go back in the water but just mostly floated around in the waves closer to shore. It was so so so beautiful!!! The water felt so good too.

By 1 pm we headed back to our place. We wanted more time to chill there, too, and with the 6 pm dinner reservation, we didn’t have that long.
Spent a few hours reading/ relaxing/ hot tub/ etc. ahhhh…

Sol at Mafolie
At 5:20 we left for our dinner reservation. I had picked this restaurant (Sol at Mafolie) for its great reviews of both the food AND incredible views. It’s located about 25 minutes up in the hills from where we were staying.

It’s also a boutique hotel! Would be a cool place to stay, albeit not super convenient, I suppose, given the location.

The views were instantly incredible, overlooking Charlotte Amalie and the cruise ships in port.

Forewarning, my camera was in overdrive. 😅 The views from our table were just amazing!!
I took a silly number of pictures, lol.

This group shot turned out great!

I ordered some kind of fancy margarita. Asher got a Shirley temple and Ethan just had OJ. 🙂

I had strategically booked our table for 6 pm to time it with the sunset. You can’t actually SEE the sunset from here, but I wanted to see the views by daylight, and then watch the transition to night time. 6 pm worked perfectly!!

My mom snapped this nice pic of the restaurant when she ran to the bathroom:

My mom and Ethan:

We got to watch 2 different cruise ships eventually pull out of port and set sail.

Everyone’s food was delicious!! I had the Sol Chicken:

My dad and Ethan got the grouper:

Asher got a 16 oz ribeye. 😳 Which he ate the entire thing of…

Plus key lime pie to share!

And 2 of these… 😬😆

The views after dark were just gorgeous. The moon was full and beautiful.

Finally, after a long and leisurely meal, we headed home.
It was about 9 pm so we went down to the hot tub for a while, where we chatted with a family with 4 kids from Chicago who had just arrived today! I gave them some tips and tricks of things we’ve learned during our time here (and some St. John recs- they will just do a day trip there) and they were very appreciative. 🙂
Took a quick walk to the beach with my mom … sad to leave our great pool and beach combo today!

Now I need to get my butt up from this chair and go pack! We have to check out in a bit. Today’s plans are to explore Charlotte Amalie some before we head to Water Island for our last 3 nights.
The weather forecast is not looking the best for Friday/Saturday- not constant rain but some rain mixed in and mostly cloudy. Booooo…… Water Island is supposed to be beautiful and everything looks prettier in sunshine!!
I guess at least I cannot complain- overall we have had really good weather on this trip. It has been cloudier than I expected, though. Not like constant clouds, but I figured this time of year it would be mostly sun and blue skies here! We have had at least some clouds most days, but thankfully minimal rain.
Time to go pack!! More later.
PS- check out these insane videos I took from the restaurant:
