Friday, October 10
I slept quite gloriously in my King sized bed and woke up on Friday to shower and get ready in my beautiful room. We had some loose plans in the morning, but the big ticket plan was picking up SHU from the airport!! And then, assuming her travel all went smoothly, we’d head straight to the very famous Peggy’s Cove.
But first, breakfast.
The view from one of my many windows in my corner room:

I had a breakfast reservation at 8:45 am. The Tattingstone has a wonderful FREE sit down dining room breakfast included, but you do need to reserve the time in advance (which they set up for my whole stay upon check in).
My room was just next door to the main building. Yay for a perfect fall morning!! Ugh this property was just too good. The decor, the vibe, the leaves… if you need a place to stay in Wolfville, this is your place.

I had a very delightful solo breakfast in the dining room. It was SO pretty!! I loved the clean, modern decor, and they had classy music playing… I do not dine alone in a nice dining room like this basically, ever, so this was fun.
I giggled to myself that at any moment a tall, dark man in a flannel shirt would walk in and be assigned to the table right next to me. You know, to complete the Hallmark movie “small town in autumn” plot. 😉 Just kidding!!

Went with the “traditional” option. Yum.

I spent a good 25 minutes just sipping tea and lingering there, which was very nice. Lovely spot!
Here are a few pics of the lounge/bar area in the Inn. (Sadly, we never really had a good opportunity to use it, but would have be nice for their Happy Hour!)

After breakfast, I waited briefly in the rocking chair on the front porch for Elisabeth to pick me up. This location was perfect and just a couple minutes from her house.

First up was to stop by a couple of cute local farm markets! These were a “minor” stop in the grand scheme of our itinerary, but I really enjoyed this. I don’t get to places like this often at home, and they smell SO good and give all the fall vibes.

We poked around at some misc decor and gifts, and if they’d had this in grey instead of blue I’d have taken it home for Charlie!

Pumpkins and gourds!

Elisabeth picked up some fresh cider and I think a couple of other items. We also admired the local jam and syrup selection.

After a total of 2 different farm market stops, we headed to Elisabeth’s favorite coffee shop! This was exciting, because she talks about going here all the time. It was fun to see it with my own eyes.
And it was busy! Completely full, so we snagged a spot on the couch. Elisabeth adorably ran into several people she knew, of course. 🙂 Have I mentioned the major Stars Hollow vibes Wolfville gives off?!
We had tea and chatted for a while. What a cute and charming place! I can see why she loves it there. 🙂

Just outside, I got my pic taken with the Wolfville sign.

We also did another stroll by the Wolfville sign, this time with nice clear blue sky.

We then headed back to Elisabeth’s house, for a light lunch. We ate up some leftovers (more butternut squash soup and another biscuit, yessss) for me and I think Elisabeth finished up some salad.
I had to text Laura that I spotted not one but two of her books in the wild. 🙂

How cute is Elisabeth’s simple fall mantle decor? Her whole home is decorated SO simply yet very aesthetically pleasing. It made me feel like I need to keep working on cutting the clutter at my house!

After lunch, it was time to go get Sarah!! Yayyyyy!!! (She had a very early flight from West Palm Beach followed by a very tight connection in Philly followed by NO other flights the same day to Halifax from PHL, so, if she missed that second flight she was up a creek. Fortunately everything went off without a hitch! Whew.)
On the way back to Halifax… many pretty leaves! (Ok, this pic is not the best, but just trust me!)

Sarah’s flight was actually early, so she had to wait a few minutes for us. And then, there were 3! So exciting to all be together. Sarah and I talk and text constantly but we had only actually met in person ONCE before (and it was only an hour long Starbucks chat before I left on a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale in June 2023)!! This was unacceptable!, so I was sooo excited to finally get some extended time together. (Ditto about Elisabeth!!)
We immediately began the ~1 hour long drive to Peggy’s Cove, all of us talking probably a bit too excitedly and nonstop the whole way. 😅
Peggy’s Cove is THE most famous spot in Nova Scotia and one of the top tourist sites in all of Canada, even.
It’s the cutest, most quaint little fisherman’s village + lighthouse. We had the most perfect perfect day for it, too. How did we get so lucky?! Clear blue skies and Elisabeth said it was the least busy she has ever seen it!
It is an incredibly picturesque spot, and I apologize for the million upcoming photos, but it was simply impossible to choose.

We worked hard on the triple selfie this weekend, lol. I think we got it down pretty well?

In the little fishing hut, we found a Wisconsin plate! 🙂

Print worthy! Poster worthy! I loooove this. Such a CLASSIC “coastal” northeastern scene.

It was fun to have various photographers! Although Elisabeth definitely was the best, as she knew all the “money shots”, having been here a million times before. 😉

Then… the lighthouse! Stunning.

We took many lighthouse pictures, as you can see.

And it really wasn’t busy!! Only handfuls of people. This is like, my dream at touristy spots.

Love this one!

We did some rock scrambling, too.

Elisabeth recreated my Grateful Kae profile pic. 😉 (In that one I was staring out over Canyonlands National Park, but I guess I like to sit and contemplate all beautiful sites.)

We sat in the sun and chatted on the rock for a while. Sooooo much talking! Hahaha I am surprised we still have voices left. 😅

Elisabeth our incredible tour guide!

Eventually we had to move it on out. It was a rather long drive home, about 1.5 hours.
Photo op with a fisherman before we left…

On our way back into town, we swung by the Tattingstone so Sarah could get checked in quickly. We didn’t stay, and as soon as she had dropped her things, we all went to Elisabeth’s.

Here we were sending photo evidence to some other blog friends who were asking if Sarah had made it. Yupppp!

Elisabeth’s husband John had also just flown in from Germany that afternoon. She had left some partially prepared food for her daughter Belle to get started while we were gone (Elisabeth is the best meal planner!!), and we mingled around the house while she finished getting everything ready.
We met John (so fun! We always hear so much about him, and he even brought us each chocolates from Germany! SO NICE) and all sat down for a scrumptious seafood casserole. Mm it was great! Serious comfort food.
After dinner and clean up we (me, Sarah, Elisabeth and Belle) did more hanging out in the living room. John headed straight to bed (jet lag!) and we had some fun girls only time.
Elisabeth had also “thrown together” an amazing apple cake that morning. Sigh, oh, to be as great of a host as Elisabeth is…

Here’s me in my adopted chair in the living room, where I ended up basically every day. (“It’s best for tall people!” Elisabeth would say. I felt a little guilty because IMO it was the best spot to stretch out. ;))

Eventually the night came to a close and Elisabeth dropped us back off at our inn. Sarah headed straight to her room, tired after a very early morning, and I headed to mine to just unwind for a bit and talk to Ivan on the phone briefly.
What an epic day! Did I already say that about yesterday?! Oh well if I did… Spoiler, every day of this trip was epic, and this is zero exaggeration. Peggy’s Cove was such a beautiful spot. Even better though was all of us finally being together!!
Stay tuned for Saturday (day 4)…. 🙂

These trip recaps are so great! Beautiful scenery and beautiful companions!! And Elisabeth does look like she’s a total pro at hosting. How nice that Belle could get dinner started. Oh to have a little helper in the kitchen!!
Your Inn looks so cute! That tea pot is adorable!! What a great place to stay!

Elisabeth’s hosting was unparalleled. And she made it look easy (which for me it absolutely would not have been!). All the logistics were figured out and she just knows her area SO well.

I am so happy that Peggy’s Cove was picture-perfect. I mean…I’ve been there in the winter, in rain, in fog…and it always looks beautiful and provides awesome scenery. But this really was next-level. Yay!
I am also happy all the logistics went so well over this weekend. It feels like everything worked incredibly smoothly (good weather, SHU getting in early).
Now I’m off to write my version of events, but I almost feel like I should just link to your post and call it a day. Haha. Who am I kidding, you know I’ll come up with a million words about the same adventures.

You don’t need to apologize or explain for the number of Peggy’s Cove pix! If anything, you probably should have added a dozen or so more.
I have that same chair in my office, so I felt right at home in that nook. It’s a great chair for us shorter folks, too. It’s from Ikea and it was reasonably priced.
I’m so glad that you got to meet John! The trip wouldn’t have been complete without that.
It’s no problem that you weren’t able to hang out in the bar at the hotel. You’ll do it next time! Seriously, can you imagine just going to Wolfville once?

First things first- you write the BEST trip recaps. Somehow you manage to include all the little details we want without making it boring, ever. And… that day!!! It looks like you got perfect weather (I was scrutinizing everyone’s wardrobe choices- looks like it was pleasantly cool) with beautiful blue skies, AND it wasn’t crowded. All the photos are incredible, and I can just imagine how much fun you all had! I CANNOT WAIT for day 4.

Aww, thanks Jenny!! I appreciate this comment because I sometimes get self-conscious about my recaps because I do realize they are very long and detailed! I’m so glad to know you don’t find them boring! 🙂 🙂

They are definitely NOT boring and are much appreciated…especially when I’m trying to copy your trips like to Costa Rica 🙂 🙂 So please keep it up!
