Making a Difference: The Starfish Story

I slept in today until 7:30 and it’s a beautiful Saturday morning. I’m sitting on the deck, sipping my tea and enjoying the sight of both a female AND male cardinal on the tree branch in front of me. (Of course, I just tried to snap a picture and they got shy and flew away).

I have a bunch of stuff to do today…some weeding/yard work, grocery shopping, a couple hours of “work work” to catch up on, paying a few bills, my 1 mile run plus my final Range & Repair stretching workout to officially close out my Beachbody program. Ivan has to work this morning for a few hours too so he is heading out shortly. I’m anxious to get a jump on the day here since I might as well get as much stuff done while he is working so that we can enjoy the later part of the day.

I ran across this little story the other day and I really enjoyed it and wanted to share with you all. It hit kind of close to home for me, regarding what I’m trying to do with this little blog, trying to spread a little bit of positivity and gratitude back into the world. It was a good reminder for us all that even a small difference could be a BIG difference for even one person (or starfish! 😊)

Have a most wonderful weekend everyone!

Daily Gratitude:
I am grateful for my legs. I’m feeling them today- I’m sore and tired from that tough workout yesterday. But I am so lucky to have healthy, strong legs that allow me to walk, run, and exercise. I’m grateful to my legs for carrying me around on this Earth everyday! How many people have either lost their legs or have legs that don’t work?? I’m immensely grateful for mine, sore and all. 🙂

  1. very true…. i think focusing on the positive side of things when writing the posts help me to be grateful and hopefully helps someone else too, even if it means one little star. 🙂

  3. Thanks for commenting on my blog post! It led to me discovering your blog and I love it. As a therapist, we try to remember the starfish story and I can attest that we often need that reminder. The smallest things do truly make a difference.

  4. I have always loved the starfish story! It’s as close to a governing philosophy as I have (well, other than the Big Two commandments…). I’m glad you stumbled upon it and shared it with us all. A timely reminder of how important the ‘little’ things can be, at least to somebody.

  5. I don't think I've encountered the starfish story – love it! That's a great, simple reflection in how one person can make a difference in the life of another. Sleeping in sounds blissful! I also slept in until 7:15 on Sunday. It felt so good.
