Every morning in my little “highlight journal”, I jot down a positive quote. (In between my daily summary paragraph (top part) and my bullet journal style recap (bottom half) which tracks my workouts, meals, accomplishments, gratitude, etc.)
I thought I’d share a few I’ve written down lately:
“Don’t base your decisions on the advice of people who don’t have to deal with the results.“
“I would rather be annoyingly positive and optimistic than to be destructively negative and hateful.”
“More is lost by indecision than wrong decision. Indecision is the thief of opportunity.”
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born, and the day you find out why.”
“The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.”
“I do not fix problems. I fix thinking. Then problems fix themselves.”
“Happiness, knowledge, not in another place, but this place, not for another hour, but this hour.”
“Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.”
I know inspirational quotes aren’t for everyone, but they usually never fail to make me pause, think and just feel good for a minute. 🙂
Today, check out our very summer-like forecast:
High of 95!! Toasty!! I already sat outside this morning for 20 minutes or so sipping my tea, and I’m planning to head out on a walk with Ivan in ~5 minutes.
The rest of the day will mostly be work, and it might be too hot to really take a midday walk! Maybe tonight I’ll see if Asher wants to go for a walk to get ice cream though, when it cools down a little.
Ivan was off yesterday for Juneteenth, so he drove Ethan to meet up with my parents and hand him off to them. For the last several summers, Ethan has gone to stay with my parents for a few days (alone). He loves to do this and was SOOOOOOO excited to go. He actually called up my mom himself to ask if he could visit them this week, once we found out his job wasn’t going to start quite yet. They have fun things near their house (a golf driving range, the skate park, a swimming pond, etc.) and my Mom will surely spoil him with too many ice cream cones.
So, our time with just 1 kid home is extending!! Actually, come to think of it, we’ll have only 1 kid home at a time for the next couple weeks. Right when Ethan comes home later this week, Asher and Ivan will leave Friday for a long weekend swim meet in Iowa. Then they come home Sunday night, but Ethan leaves Sunday afternoon for camp with a friend until next Friday 7/1.
Different, but I kind of like this! Nice to change things up and focus on one kid at a time. It’s like I’m rotating between the two of them right now. Ethan first, now Asher. Then Ethan again, then back to Asher. 🙂
I am grateful for the lamps in my office. I really enjoy having the softer lights on, versus the harsh overhead light. Makes a HUGE difference in the feel/ ambience of my little office space.
