Once upon a time, there was a man. The man had a much younger brother, who would sometimes travel from a far away land to visit him. The younger brother was grateful to the older brother for inviting him into his home. To extend his gratitude, the younger man would offer to help the older brother, who worked long days, with chores around his home.
One of these chores was to mow the fine, green grass that grew in the older brother’s yard. What a pleasantry to arrive home to freshly mowed grass! The older brother was pleased.
One day, the older brother was gone, toiling away at his job. The younger brother ventured into the yard to mow the grass yet again that hot afternoon. To his surprise, the gasoline tank was empty! Being the helpful young lad that he is, the younger brother walked down the block to a nearby gas station. He filled the gas tank, paid for it, returned home, and filled the machine. What a clever boy, to learn how to pump gas in a foreign country, all while speaking in a foreign tongue!
However, after returning home, try as he might, he couldn’t get the machine to start. He phoned the older brother, informing him that the machine appeared to be disabled. The older brother assured him to not worry, thanked him for his efforts and said that he would resolve it later.
Sadly, the older brother was unable to make the machine function either. He tried everything he could think of, to no avail.
Older brother did some internet research, and ended up ordering a brand new machine! What a shame. This cost the older brother great amounts of money.
Meanwhile, the younger brother returned to his native land. The older brother received his new machine, assembled it and successfully mowed the lawn. While mowing the lawn, for the first time with the new machine, he had a sudden epiphany! Could it be that the younger brother had purchased diesel fuel, instead of regular gasoline?
A phone call to younger brother in his faraway land confirmed this was indeed true. Unfortunately, the new machine had now been used and was no longer returnable.
The moral of this story is:
1. If your 19 year old Spanish speaking brother offers to help you, make sure that he actually knows what he is doing when purchasing gasoline alone at a gas station. 😄
2. Be mindful of what type of fuel you put into your body! Perhaps people are not so different from lawnmowers. Just like the lawnmower immediately shuts down without the right kind of fuel, humans can’t function without healthy fuel either. Eat right, move your body often, and get enough of rest. 🙂
*Okay, if you haven’t guessed yet, this obviously is NOT actually a real parable. This is my silly attempt to make light of an irritating situation. 🤪hahaha.
But yep, this really happened! Yippee! Oh well. Ivan is pretty happy with his new lawnmower, and the other one was getting rather worn out anyway.
This actually did make me ponder the idea of fuel + humans, though!! It struck me how the lawnmower just literally died with the wrong fuel in it. Wouldn’t even turn on! Makes you think that maybe our even more-complex-than-lawnmower bodies would probably really appreciate it if we all focused a little more on the quality of what we put into them. 🙂
Hope you enjoyed my little story this morning, lol!!! I must admit, that was actually pretty fun to write. Hahaha. 😂
I am grateful for my reusable water bottle.
