Wednesdays, Wisdom

Wisdom Wednesday- #modestyfail :)

Well, what did I say? Election day came and went, and what do you know…..HERE COMES THE SUN AGAIN! 😉 The world is indeed still turning!!

Granted, we don’t have a result yet. But, I’ll go out on a limb here and predict an identical view from my sunroom window tomorrow at 5:55 a.m. And the next day. And the day after that. 🙂

Wisdom Wednesday

I will NOT try to predict an election winner, because election statistics analysis is not in my wheelhouse. Instead, with everyone in the U.S. probably overtired from staying up late watching results come in (or was that just me?), how about a little inspiration for the middle of your week- a Wisdom Wednesday.

I read this story yesterday, and you know by now that I’m a sucker for a good parable or “life lesson” disguised in a true story. Enjoy!

My friend Dick Bass (now into his seventies) has traveled far and wide and had many adventures. His achievements include being the first person to climb the highest peak on each of the seven continents, as well as being the oldest person (by five years) to climb Mount Everest (at the age of fifty-five).

He once told me a story of a plane ride, on which he sat next to a nice man who listened to him go on about the treacherous peaks of Everest and McKinley, the time he almost died in the Himalayas, and his upcoming plan to re-climb Everest. Just before the plane landed, Bass turned to the man sitting next to him and said, “After all this, I don’t think I’ve introduced myself. My name is Dick Bass.” The man shook his hand and responded, “Hi, I’m Neil Armstrong. Nice to meet you.”

Oops. Now THAT’S embarrassing. LOL! Love it! What a great reminder to listen twice, speak once. And, stay modest. You never know when you’re talking to a guy who walked on the friggin’ moon!!!!

Daily Gratitude:

I am grateful for “finding” a brand new pair of black Eddie Bauer leggings in my closet yesterday! I had bought them over a year ago, while ordering a gift for someone (I deserved a little something, too 😁 ). But I must have stuck them on the shelf with the tags still on, and then they got buried behind something in my closet and I FORGOT about them! So, today I am sporting a brand new pair of very lovely, comfortable leggings that feel like a surprise gift to myself. A little mid-week treat!

  1. I’m definitely stressed about the election. Yes, the sun will still shine and life, for the most part, will go on uninterrupted, but I’m disappointed that so many in our nation support such a vile and divisive person. I used to identify as a Republican, but dropped that affiliation when Trump was selected as the nominee in 2016. I’m trying to focus on what is in my control, but I’m really disappointed in our nation.

  2. that’s a funny story! it’s so true, sometimes I go too enthusiastic of what I want to share that I forgot to shut up and listen!

election results…… can’t believe it’s still not there. my husband is following closely and he keeps changing his mind who will win. 🙂

Leave a Comment! And, what are you grateful for??
