Friday 5: Wisdom Version


I feel like there’s been a lot going on this week in my life that I’ve been sharing on the blog about ME ME ME (anniversary…school talk….more back to school talk….). 

Today, I want to give you a break from all that. I’m even tired of hearing about my own life, and I’m living it. πŸ™‚ 

I haven’t done a Friday 5 in a while, so today I want to share 5 pieces of WISDOM that I’ve read this week that I just LOVE!!! I know you will, too. These are so, so good!

#1-3 are from James Clear’s newsletter this week. I’ve shared his stuff before, and almost every week I find something (or everything!) to be share-worthy. His newsletter is in the “3-2-1” format: 3 thoughts from him, 2 thoughts from others and 1 question for you. They are short, sweet and highly inspirational. (I’m not on too many newsletters, but this one I’d really recommend!) 

The first one about patience is my favorite.

“The most overlooked and underappreciated growth strategy is patience. (More specifically, consistently producing great work over a long time horizon.)”

There are many capable people in the world, but relatively few that focus on what matters.”

#4 is from 5 am Joel’s email the other day. I loved this one and especially the idea of evaluating my “energy” and if it makes people want to dart into the restroom or not. πŸ™‚

#5 is from my trusty “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” calendar from 9/2, on the concept of not waiting for a different circumstance to be happy.

Wherever You Go, There You Are is the title of a super book by Jon Kabat-Zinn. As the title suggests, wherever you go, you take yourself with you! The significance of this statement is that it can teach you to stop constantly wishing you were somewhere else. We tend to believe that if we were somewhere else- on a vacation, with another partner, in a different career, in a different home, or in a different circumstance- somehow we would be happier and more content. We wouldn’t!

Daily Gratitude:
I am grateful for meeting a work deadline over a week in advance. Whew! Feels good. I’m grateful for help from two coworkers that helped me meet that goal.

  1. I didn't think of your posts this week being me-centric! I'm still getting to know you so I like learning more about you and your life! I think nearly everything I post is pretty me-centric, or Pablo-centric!

    These are all good bits of wisdom. I saw the 'wherever you go, there you are' concept mentioned in a cup of jo post this week, too!
